Assalamualaikum, Salam Sejahtera dan Kia Ora
First and foremost, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Mohd Erfino Johari, and I have officially started my duty here at our Education Malaysia, High Commission of Malaysia, on the 21st of September 2012. It is a an honour to be here, and looking forward to work with all of you. I am nothing but confident that each Malaysian Students Society will uphold the crystal image of excellence in all aspects, which will strengthen the good image of our Malaysian students and researchers as a whole. I've met my predecessor, Dr. Rosli Mohamed, and he surely has set a high benchmark of quality performance throughout his tenure. It is my duty to ensure the continuous process of this for the benefit of all Malaysian students here in New Zealand. God's Willing, together we can achieve series of success.
Higher Education nowadays is an industry, a business, if you like. Competition among world top countries in communicating talents and experiences is getting massively higher than decades ago. Our beloved country Malaysia can't afford to be left behind. There's a lot of works that EMNZ will need to perform in this field. Just to name a few, promotion and international collaboration where New Zealand is not the destination, but as one of the platforms, students welfare at its highest capable level, and of course, venturing on clear convincing career path for Malaysian students after their studies which will be a future influence to the country in the development of academic industry, for you are our future leaders.
I believe in human communication that is enriches with 3 elements - Make things easier for us to get to know each other, Put our best efforts in nurturing the understanding between each other, and Enhancing a 'Joint Working' concept where cooperation and assistance can be effectively delivered, let alone the future success, highlights and achievements. Being a 'Kiwi' Malaysian, apart from the core objective why we are here, each of us need to observe and explore every single opportunity to interact with the Kiwis and the rest of the world. Let's be the reason for Malaysia and Malaysians to be known by the world with every good word in the dictionary.
Indeed, values must be communicated. Puan Hajjah Salmah and me will do our best to ensure that the progress of intellectual capacity and welfare affairs of all Malaysian students and researchers are managed and well taken care.
But before all these come in to the big picture of our good working relationship, let me start by dedicating my warmest greetings and wishes to all of you. Kia Ora ! Hope to meet and greet each of you very soon.
Thanks a million!
MOHD ERFINO JOHARI
