Assalamualaikum, Salam Sejahtera and Kia Ora
Dear all students,
We are now in October 2014. How time flies.
I believe that for most student-based societies, October is the month of transition. The current committees will be cut the bait and the new committees will be selected. On behalf of EMNZ, we cherish the harmony process of it and hope that this will brings nothing but good and better.
As for the new faces, it’s time to plan on placing the works and contribution according to its at appropriate fields. Leaders should create successors. They don’t influence their successors with what they’ve done or achieved, rather, they should encourage their successors to achieve things that they can’t really accomplish. They should motivate their successors to improve any lacking or shortcomings or even mistakes they’ve done, and at the same time, they shouldn’t motivate their successors to follow inappropriate moves that they’ve might caught into in the past. This is actually, in my opinion, what team work is all about. This is what has been proven over the decades, when students are enthusiast to participate and to contribute using this platform, a student-based society. What driven them is the spirit of togetherness and unity. Working collectively is actually easier than to think collectively. Hence, this would be the first and basic positive yet manageable challenge that EMNZ would like to put onto the frame of new faces and newly elected committees. It is to think collectively and to consider about others and if we are concern enough, to consider about the future generation of 5,10 or even 20 years from now who will be studying here in New Zealand.
So to all newly selected committees, it’s time to start thinking and planning for 2015. EMNZ as the institution that is responsible of the well-being of all student-based societies in New Zealand, will always support beneficial programmes intended and organised by any societies. Support is a big word and serves from various fields. Financial is just part of it, and not just it. Elected presidents, vice presidents, secretaries, treasurers and every committee and portfolio, each and one of you is same. There’s no superiority over another. Presidents for example, will not be appropriate they request more power than what they’re supposed to get, or what is beyond their level. Widen your observation. When the perspective is wider, the perception will be clearer. And the best way to have both elements accurate, is for us to work together and collaborate.
Choose the right project and sail through !
To all October babies, including myself, a massive happy birthday shout out to all
