A Sporting June - June 2014

Assalamualaikum, Salam Sejahtera and Kia Ora

Dear all students,

Let’s welcome the month of June 2014 which remarks the beginning of winter. Amidst all activities held and programmes conducted at every region in New Zealand, we realise that we are now in the middle of the year. Surely, we look forward to sustain the good momentum we’ve shown with better planning and sharper target.

Based on the record on my table, combining all activities of all Malaysian student-based societies in all regions, we’ve exceeded 60 student activities representing all four major niche areas that EMNZ is obliged to supervise, and that are leadership and nation building, unity and integration, cultural and sports and last but not least, entrepreneurship and career development. These four crucial principles as aspired by the Education Malaysia Division at the Ministry of Education have effectively proven as supporting tools to all Malaysian students abroad, in all level of tertiary education. With assistance and cooperation rendered by all students, sponsored and non-sponsored, EMNZ will definitely be focusing on carrying out these objectives in the best way possible.

It’s going to be a busy month this June. Well, putting aside the World Cup 2014 fever in Brazil, I believe that students have a lot to face, positively. First and the most top priority in June would be the examination. Have a great study week everybody, do your best in the examination and prove that you’re the best. Secondly, towards the end of June, muslim students will be celebrating the auspicious month of Ramadhan. EMNZ would like to wish all muslim students a great Ramadhan and may all our good deeds will be accepted and rewarded by Him. And from 30th June till 5th July 2014, we are going to have our biggest annual sports event, Bersatu Games 2014. It’s an annual event and the participation is open to any students who are interested and willing to participate voluntarily. Having to fast in the holy month of Ramadhan, this will be a positive, yet meaningful moment. I’ve been informed that this is the only week or dates that allow all athletes and supporters to be in one place and at the same time. Due to the fact that the semester break for each university is different, I congratulate all student-based societies, its presidents and committees for they’ve spent a lot of times for extensive series of discussions among themselves. Congratulations in advance to Massey University Malaysian Students Association (MUMSA) for being our host this year. On behalf of EMNZ, I would to thank all for the great effort done.

I called this as the month of team building, physically, mentally and spiritually. We are in one team. The ability to make everyone on a team love what they’re doing together is at the heart of team building. Have a great Bersatu Games 2014, have a blessed Ramadhan and have a great result in your examination.

Kind regards

Mohd Erfino Johari

Director, EMNZ
