Towards shared goals

Assalamualaikum, Salam sejahtera and Kia Ora

Dear all students

We’re in the last month of 2013 calendar. December would normally be filled with graduation ceremonies of all New Zealand universities. EMNZ has received invitations from the universities to attend the ceremony and we will definitely be putting our best to fulfil the invitation.

For those who have completed their studies, congratulations to you. The graduation day is your day. Celebrate it not only with your love ones, but with a satisfaction that as students, you have significantly contribute your precious years in developing academic excellence, social responsibility, leadership exposure, related management and skills and involvement in beneficial activities. Each of you has achieved a correct level of potential, additional knowledge and global awareness. You have also created opportunities to contribute in a larger scale and in a bigger field. In pursuing your degrees, I believe that a lot of sacrifices you’ve made, of course, but there’s a lot more that you need to make. You’ll gain more sights eyeing your footsteps while taking up the career ladder. Hence, the next immediate challenge is to adapt, to cope and to blend in with your new future environment. Sooner or later, we will responsible on new challenges and we just have to be positively responsive. EMNZ is proud of you and for those who are schedule to head back to Malaysia, bring back with you good memories and good attributes gained in this land of Aotearoa.

Throughout 2013, we’ve shared our times with others in numerous activities. Be it academic or even informal sessions, each activity serves its own important role in strengthening the capacity of Malaysian students. EMNZ stand in supporting students’ activities remains the same. It’s good to witness ideas being implemented into activities. Initiatives need to be nurtured and beneficial directive ideas need to be supported. Congratulations to all students for their tremendous effort shown. It’s not an easy thing to be in support to new ideas especially in doing things with new different way, but I was mesmerised with the positive response given by students and student-based organisations. Though there are numbers of ideas that I’ve initiated for this year but are yet to be done in 2013, we always have 2014 to turn it into reality. Let’s make 2014 as the year of collaboration, cooperation and working towards shared goals. EMNZ hopes that all newly elected committees of all societies can astonish this concept in every event planned and organised. To be able to work with others, we need the right determination to accept and agree with new approach, we have to prepare ourselves to dedicate our talent for the benefit of our organisation, our university and of course, our country. Brilliant people can’t work with others should the desire to work together is not there. Normal people like us can achieve extraordinary achievements if we can anticipate in supporting activities by our own organisations and societies.

All in all, thanks for the 2013. I wish all of you a great time this summer. Please take extra care in everything that you do. See you again in 2014!

Director, EMNZ
